Abby is a great example of an early blaxploitation film from the early 1970's from director Josiah Howard. On the heels of William Friedkin's 'The Exorcist', released a year earlier, this gem of a film is based on a kind and gentle soul who turns evil thanks to a demonic force, in this case Eshu the Nigerian god of sexuality. The acting is over the top, and the action hilarious. The bizarre and campy ending is well worth the wait, when the father, the husband and a police officer fight the demon in a two bit dive bar.
Interesting Fact: Howard almost called this film 'Blaxorcist' as a direct rip off of Friedkin's classic. Paramount, producer of 'The Excorcist' applied a great deal of pressure to have both the name changed and the movie itself be buried in obscurity.

So Obscure, it's a must see.
Count yourselves lucky to be able to watch this obscure piece of low-budget exploitation. It's been so obscure for so long that it has become a film of legend. The drive-in I grew up going to had a copy of the poster in the projection booth. I would look at that poster every time the door was open. Amazing.
Abby
The movie was stupid but abby was hot!!!!
this movie is too funny
You'll need a sense of humor to really enjoy this one. The whole movie is a riot, but the ending scene is a special kind of bizarre.
